DAY 1: DIANI TO TSAVO WEST NATIONAL PARK

Pick up from Mombasa International Airport and drive to Tsavo West park. Morning: Enjoy a scenic drive through the countryside. Afternoon: Arrive at Tsavo West National Park and check into Severin Safari Camp. Have lunch at the lodge and relax for a bit. Late Afternoon: Embark on an afternoon game drive in Tsavo West, exploring the park’s diverse landscapes and wildlife.

Evening: Return to Severin Safari Camp for dinner and overnight stay.

TSAVO WEST is about 205km from Mombasa and about 3hrs 30 minutes’ drive depending on traffic. From the sight of fifty million gallons of crystal clear water gushing out of from the under parched lava rock that is the Mzima Springs to the Shetani lava fows, Tsavo West is a beautiful, rugged wilderness. The savannah ecosystem comprises of open grasslands, scrublands, and Acacia woodlands, belts of riverine vegetation and rocky ridges including the Poacher’s Lookout where visitors can see the teeming herds in the plains below. Tsavo West offers some great game viewing and attractions include elephant, rhino, Hippos, lions, cheetah, leopards, Buffalos, diverse plant and bird species.

SEVERIN SAFARI CAMP The camp offers 27 luxurious accommodations and 8 self-contained Kitani Bandas spread over 25 hectares of bushland. The camp is not fenced and therefore perfectly integrated into the natural environment.

The tents provide a wonderful view of the landscape and the wild animals that pass freely at the water hole. Maasai warriors are representatives of the harmony of the Severin Safari Camp with man and nature.

The Camp serve breakfast, lunch and dinner at à la carte “Out of Africa” restaurant, the “Thorn Tree Bar” offers all kinds of refreshments. The camp also offers swimming pool and spa facilities. Severin Safari Camp is located in the largest Park in Kenya the Tsavo West national park 250km from Nairobi and Mombasa. Access is by road or by air from Nairobi and Mombasa.

DAY 2: TSAVO EAST. Ashnil Aruba

Early Morning drives in Tsavo Park at 06.30am, enjoy the African sunrise over the savanna. Return to the camp at around 8.00am for a breakfast. Check-out of the camp and continue on more game viewing drives and enjoy a visit to Mzima springs, where they can see hippos and crocodiles in their natural habitat. Head onwards to Tsavo East National park arriving in time for lunch at Ashnil Aruba Lodge. Rest then head for evening game drive at 04:00 p.m.

TSAVO EAST NATIONAL PARK

Tsavo East National Park is one of the oldest parks in Kenya, located South East of Kenya near the town of Voi in the Taita-Taveta District of Coast Province, inland from the Coast, it is 13,747 sq.km.

The sight of dust-red elephant wallowing, rolling and spraying each other with the midnight blue waters of palm-shaded Galana River is one of the most evocative images in Africa. This, along with the 300 kilomtere long Yatta Plateau, the longest lava flow in the world, make for an adventure unlike any other in the Tsavo East. The park forms the largest protected area in Kenya and is home to most of the larger mammals, vast herds of dust –red elephant, rhino, buffalo, lion, leopard, pods of hippo, crocodile, waterbucks, lesser kudu, gerenuk and the prolific bird life features 500 recorded species.

DAY 3: DEPART FOR DIANI

Early morning drives followed by breakfast at the Lodge. Check-out then game drive en route to the gate. Drive to Diani beach arriving at around midday. Check-in at Leopard Beach Resort Dinner and overnight at Leopard Beach Resort

DAY 5: WASINI DAY TOUR

Pick from the hotel at 07.30am. The drive from Diani beach to Shimoni is about 45 minutes to an hour, enjoy a drive past the Ramisi sugar plantation, you will have the opportunity to see rural villages, tall palm trees and lush greenery, arrive at the historical small fshing village of Shimoni at around 08.30am.

On arrival in Shimoni piers you will board a traditional Arab dhow for a cruise to Kisite Marine Park. The park is famous for its population of turtles: Green and Hawksbill turtles normally spotted in their hang out around the park.

The reef offers sanctuary to over 200 dolphins (spinner, humpback and bottle-nosed), which can be seen as single individuals or mostly in pods of 2-25 individuals breaking above the waves. If you are fortunate enough to visit between July and December, you’ll have a chance to spot Humpback whales, which raise their calves in the warm waters during this period.

As you sail out on the Indian Ocean, there is a high chance to spot Dolphins. The boat ride to the Kisite Mpunguti Marine Park takes about an hour. You will then snorkel and marvel at the rich marine life where corals and sea plants are protected. You are provided with masks and snorkels and are accompanied by a certified and experienced guide. Assistance is also provided to first timers. Snorkeling time takes about 1hour 30 minutes to 2 hours then back on board, you can refresh yourself with fruits and soft drinks. During low tide, a sand bank appears where you can relax and sunbathe. Lunch follows at noon.

Lunch is served from 12.30pm: Sail to mainland where a tropical seafood lunch is waiting for you. The menu includes crab, fish, and rice with coconuts sauce. You can also opt for a chicken or vegetarian menu.

Slave Caves: After lunch we will visit the Shimoni slave caves, where a guide will lead you through the Shimoni caves where slaves were “stored” during the old slave trading days before shipment to the Zanzibar slave market. This is a 15-minute tour.

Departure from Shimoni will be at 3.30pm then drop off at the hotel. Dinner and overnight at Neptune Paradise

DAY 6:

DAY 7: MOMBASA DAY TOUR

The trip begins from Diani beach at 8.00am, drive towards the ferry which normally takes 45 mins – 1 hrs depending on the traffc, We will start with a drive through Mama Ngina drive heading towards Fort Jesus, the tour inside Fort Jesus takes about an hour and a half, then head towards the old town, Hindu Temple, the Marikiti Market, view the famous ‘Elephant tusks on Moi Avenue.

Lunch follows at around 13h00, thereafter you depart for the Haller Park, this is a nature trail where old quarries were rehabilitated to form a habitat for different species.

Spend the entire afternoon at park and watch the crocodile and giraffe feeding at around 15h30. Return back to hotel thereafter.

Dinner and overnight at Neptune Paradise.

DAY 9:

After breakfast at the resort. Transfer to Mombasa Airport to catch departure flight home.
